What Making Fashion Accessible means to me
With knitting specifically, I would like to knit pneumatic tubes or light tubes and create the mapping for a screen (and potentially a clothing article).
Other interests include researching and adapting for this research group would include laser engraving on fabric; researching other lasers that could be used to create sensing capabilities; and researching whether intertwining biofibers with cotton fibers could help garments change in size together with the body. At ITP Camp, an MIT researcher presented an open source project to build LED strips with sensors that fit through a sewing machine needle hole and I see potential in using this for safety features on clothing. Lastly, I’ve been wanting to get more comfortable with hacking existing machinery. I want to get exposure to assessing which parts are responsible for which data and learn more about the starting point to add functionality in addition to developing a better process for measuring the existing tool and 3D model parts for it that are spatially accurate.
